The ONEXPLAYER G1 is either a mini-laptop that an also be used as a handheld gaming system, or a gaming handheld that can also be used as a general-purpose laptop.

It's a compact computer with an 8.8 inch display, an AMD Strix Point processor, and a QWERTY keyboard that's just (barely) large enough for touch typing. But you can also lift the keyboard and remove it to reveal a set of built-in game controllers and a capacitive touch keyboard that lets you type with your thumbs when holding the G1 in two hands. Update: One Netbook plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign for the ONEXPLAYER G1 on January 9th with early bird rewards starting at $899. 

Handheld PC maker One Netbook shared a teaser for the upcoming handheld on Chinese social media late last year, although at the time the company was calling it the OneGx 2 and positioning it as a follow-up to the OneGx1 mini-laptop that first launched in 2020.

Branding the system as a ONEXPLAYER device makes more sense – the company may have gotten its start with mini-laptops, but in recent years One Netbook has put most of its focus on the ONEXPLAYER line of handheld gaming computers. While this new model can be used for both productivity and gaming, I'm not surprised to see the company use its better-known gaming branding.

According to an Indiegogo crowdfunding preview page, the ONEXPLAYER G1 will be available with up to an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor with a 12-core, 24-thread CPU, 16-core RDNA 3.5 graphics, and a 50 TOPS NPU.

Update: There will actually be three processor options available, and several storage configurations:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 8840U/32GB/1TB for $899 (IGG Early Bird pricing)
  • Intel Core Ultra 7 255H/32GB/1TB for $1099 (IGG Early Bird pricing)
  • AMD Ryzen 9 HX 370/32GB/1TB for $1199 (IGG Early Bird pricing)
  • AMD Ryzen 9 HX 370/32GB/2TB for $1299 (IGG Early Bird pricing)
  • AMD Ryzen 9 HX 370/64GB/4TB for $1599 (IGG Early Bird pricing)

    • There's no word on how much the ONEXPLAYER G1 will cost or exactly when you'll be able to buy one yet, but One Netbook has confirmed a few other features. So we know that it will have a 2.5K, 144 Hz display, USB4 and OCuLink ports, and a body that weighs 900 grams (just under 2 pounds).
