Handheld PC maker GPD seems to be on a mission to upgrade all of its devices by replacing AMD Hawk Point processors with newer AMD Strix Point chips that should bring significant boosts in CPU, graphics, and AI performance.

A few weeks ago the company launched the GPD Pocket 4 mini-laptop with up to an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, and since then the company has introduced 2025 updates for the GPD Win 4 handheld gaming PC and GPD Win Max 2 mini-laptop with similar processor options. Now the company is extending the treatment to the Win Mini lineup. Meet the GPD Win Mini (2025).

For the most part the new GPD Win Mini looks nearly identical to the GPD Win Mini (2024). It's still a tiny laptop with a 7 inch display, a clamshell design with a compact backlit QWERTY keyboard, and a set of game controllers above the alphanumeric keys.

But the new model is a tiny bit wider and heavier, measures 172 x 109 x 27mm and weighing 555 grams, compared with 168 x 109 x 26mm and 520 grams for the previous generation model. GPD says this allows for a new cooling module, among other things.

Entry-level versions of the 2025 model still come with an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U Hawk point processor featuring Radeon 780M graphics, but higher-priced configurations are available with Ryzen AI 9 365 or Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chips with RDNA 3.5 graphics.

GPD hasn't announcing pricing for the new model yet – a purchase link on the GPD website takes you to the crowdfunding campaign for last year's model.

Like the GPD Win Mini 2024, the new 2025 model supports AMD FreeSync and variable screen refresh rates (60 Hz or 120 HZ), and it features hall effect sensors as well as linear motors for vibration and a 6-axis gyroscope for motion and sensing. There's also an optional set of detachable grips that can give the system a more console-like feel when you're holding it in two hands.

And like the 2024 model, there's no OCuLink port. That's something that the original GPD Win Mini had, enabling support for external graphics docks and other accessories with up to a 64 Gbps connection. But GPD sacrificed that port to make room for a USB Type-A port on newer versions of this mini gaming laptop. You can still connect an eGPU using a USB4 connection, but performance may be a little more limited.
