The OnePlus Ace 5, anticipated to be marketed as the OnePlus 13R in international markets, is projected to feature a flat display, flat sides, and a ceramic body.

It is rumored to be powered by an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. The device's all-day battery life, swift charging capabilities, excellent 120Hz LTPO AMOLED display, along with 8 and 16GB RAM options, and overall rapid performance have earned it a place on our list of the best budget Android phones for 2024.

As leaks surrounding the OnePlus 13 series intensify, expectations are high for the 2025 R-series mid-range model to build upon the strong foundation established by the 12R, while also addressing any shortcomings of its predecessor.

While several leaks and rumors regarding the flagship OnePlus 13 have circulated, information about the OnePlus 13R remains limited. Notably, the device likely to be known as the OnePlus 13R globally will be based on the OnePlus Ace 5, scheduled for release in China this December. Recent rumors suggest we may be getting our first clear look at the upcoming device.

According to reliable leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo (as reported by Android Authority), the device is expected to utilize the previous-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which is consistent with the fact that its predecessor was equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, while the flagship OnePlus 12 featured the then-latest 8 Gen 3 chipset. The leaker mentioned that this version would be a "Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 magic modification," implying that the chipset may be overclocked to provide enhanced performance over the standard 8 Gen 3. OnePlus President Louis Lee reinforced this assertion in another Weibo post, stating that "OnePlus has adjusted the 8 Gen 3 to the level of the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition."

The image on the left below is reportedly the OnePlus Ace 5 (OnePlus 13R globally), while the image on the right depicts the OnePlus 12R. The device is expected to adopt a flat-screen and flat-side design, akin to anticipated changes in the Galaxy S25 series. Notably, it retains the notification/alert slider on the left, although it does not seem to have the textured finish of the OnePlus 12R. The OnePlus 13R will continue with a triple camera setup housed in a circular bump on the rear, though it does not extend to the side as seen in its predecessor.

Additionally, Digital Chat Station noted that the device will incorporate a "crystal shield glass," likely a more durable variant of the ceramic shield, complemented by a metal frame and a full ceramic body—making the OnePlus 13R/OnePlus Ace 5 the only mid-range smartphone utilizing a ceramic body.

Further details about this forthcoming mid-range device are expected as its launch date in China approaches.
