The MINISFORUM MGA1 is an external graphics dock that lets you connect an AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT GPU to a mini PC, laptop, or other devices that might not already have discrete graphics built in.
Since the dock has an OCuLink connector, it supports a high-speed external PCIe connection with theoretical support for data transfer speeds up to 64 Gbps, which means that performance should be substantially better than you'd get from a Thunderbolt 4 or USB4 eGPU dock. But it also means that you can only use the MGA1 with the relatively small number of PCs that have OCuLink connectors, because this dock doesn't have any USB4 or Thunderbolt ports.
First unveiled at Computex in June, (where it was going by a different name), the MINISFORUM MGA1 is now available for $559.
The Radeon RX 7600M XT GPU at the heart of the dock is the same as the one used in a number of other recent graphics docks including the GPD G1, ONEXPLAYER ONEXGPU, AYANEO AG01, and BoostR.
MINISFORUM's dock features an integrated 240W GaN power supply, which means you don't need an external power brick: you can just plug the MGA1 into a wall jack with a power cable.
It has three display outputs (one HDMI 2.1 and two DisplayPort 2.0), a USB 3.1 Type-C port with support for 65W USB Power Delivery (allowing you to power or charge a laptop while it's plugged into the dock), and three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A (10 Gbps) ports that let you use the dock as a USB hub.
