Google Messages will soon let you choose photo resolution before sending

You'll be able to choose between original quality or lower quality.
- Google Messages will soon allow users to choose photo resolution.
New HD and HD+ icons will be available in the Photo Picker.
- HD option prioritizes speed Over image quality.
- HD+ option sends images in original resolution but uses more data.
- Feature is similar to
WhatsApp's photo sending options.

Google is set to introduce new features to the Messages app, specifically an "HD" and "HD+" icon that will allow users to choose the resolution of images they send. This update will enable users to send photos either uncompressed or at a lower quality, similar to a feature already available in WhatsApp.

In the latest beta version of Messages, users will see the new icons in the Photo Picker. The HD option will sacrifice image quality for faster sending and reduced data usage, while the HD+ option preserves the original resolution but requires more data and takes longer to send. The choice made by the user will be indicated by the respective icon and a checkmark.

While Google’s move mirrors a feature from WhatsApp, it introduces slight variations in functionality. The addition of these options underscores Google's effort to enhance user experience in messaging by providing more control over image quality.
