The Nothing Phone (2a) is a budget smartphone with a a few premium features including a 6.7 inch, 2412 x 1084 pixel 120 Hz AMOLED display, dual 50MP rear cameras, and support for up to 12GB of RAM and 56GB of storage.

Shortly after launching the phone in March, Nothing announced plans to crowdsource ideas for a special "Community Edition" version of the phone. And now the company is preparing to take orders for the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition smartphone with an unusual feature: a glow-in-the-dark back.

Like the standard Nothing Phone (2a), the new model has a stripped-down version of Nothing's Light Glyph system with three LED lights on the back that can shine in different patterns.

But Nothing also used a "green-tinted phosphorescent material finish" on parts of the back of the phone, allowing it to glow in the dark when the lights go out, no power required.

In addition to the unusual back cover, the phone comes with six special wallpapers and a new box designed specifically for the glow-in-the-dark version of the phone.

The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition is a limited edition device: only 1,000 units will be produced. It goes on sale November 12, 2024, but you can sign up to be notified when that happens.
