The ODROID-M2 is a single-board computer that measures 90 x 90mm (about 3.54″ x 3.54″) and features a Rockchip RK3588S2 octa-core processor, support for up to 16GB of LPDDR5 memory, and support for up to three displays thanks to an HDMI 2.0 port, a USB Type-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode, and a MIPI-DSI display connector.

For storage the board features 64GB of eMMC flash storage soldered to the mainboard, a microSD card reader, and an M.2 2280 slot with support for PCIe 2.1 x1 SSDs. The ODROID-M2 is available now with prices starting at $115 for a model with 8GB of RAM or $145 for a 16GB version. A cheaper 4GB model is also expected to launch soon for $95.

Those prices make the new board significantly more expensive than the original ODROID-M1 or ODROID-M1S, which start at $70 and $49, respectively. But the new model has a significantly faster processor, because ODROID maker Hardkernel says that the ODROID-M2 is based on feedback that "some customers still wanted higher-end models equipped with high-performance processors."

Hardkernel says when compared with the ODROID-M1's RK3568B2 chip, the RK3588S2 processor that power the ODROID-M2 delivers up to 3X faster multi-core processing performance, up to 5 times faster graphics, and up AI performance that's up to three times higher.

Memory and eMMC storage speeds have also been more than doubled.

Ports and other interfaces include:

  • 1 x Gigabit Ethernet
  • 1 x HDMI 2.0
  • 1 x MIPI-DSI (30-pin, 4-lane display connector)
  • 1 x USB 3.0 Type-C (with DisplayPort Alt Mode)
  • 1 x USB 3.0 Type-A
  • 1 x USB 2.0 Type-A
  • 1 x microSD card reader
  • 1 x M.2 2280 PCIe 2.1 x1 socket
  • 1 x DC power input (7.5 – 15.5V – 12V/2A power adapter recommended)
  • 1 x 40-pin GPIO header
  • 1 x 14-pin GPIO header
  • 1 x UART for system console
  • 1 x CR2032 RTC battery backup
  • There's also a slider switch that let you select whether the system should boot from eMMC or microSD card storage.

Hardkernel says the ODROID-M2 should support Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and Android 13 at launch, but support for Ubuntu 24.04 is also expected in the coming months.
