Chinese PC maker Milk-V has been cranking out products designed around RISC-V processors for the last year or so, and now the company has unveiled four more models.

The upcoming Milk-V RuyiBook is a 14 inch laptop with a RISC-V processor and discrete graphics. The Milk-V Megrez is a mini ITX motherboard with a different RISC-V chip. The Milk-V Jupiter NX and Megrez NX are SODIMM-like computers-on-modules, and the Milk-V Cluster 08 is a cluster board that supports up to 8 of the aforementioned modules.

The company hasn't announced pricing or availability details for any of the systems yet, but here's what we know so far.

Milk-V Ruyibook (laptop)

This laptop has a 14 inch LCD display, support for 4K video output over an HDMI port, two USB 3 ports, and two 2.5 GbE Ethernet ports, which are kind of unusual to find on a laptop.

It's powered by a 2.5 GHz XiangShan Nanhu RISC-V (RV64GCBK) processor and also features AMD Radeon RX 550 graphics. While it's interesting to see a laptop that combines a RISC-V chip with a discrete GPU, keep in mind that this is an entry-level GPU that was released in 2017, so don't expect stellar gaming or graphics performance.

The laptop also features 8GB of DDR5-4800 memory, "high quality speakers," and a touchpad with support for gestures.

The Ruyibook measures 315 x 233 x 25mm.

Milk-V Megrez (mini ITX)

This 170 x 170mm motherboard features an ESWIN EIC7700X system-on-a-chip with a 1.6 GHz SiFive P550 quad-core RISC-V (RV64CG) processor, integrated graphics, and a 20 TOPS NPU.

It supports 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB of LPDDR5-6400 memory and has an M.2 x2 connector for PCIe 2.0 x2 storage, an eMMC connector, a microSD card reader, and SPI flash for boot.

There's also a PCIe x8 connector with support for PCIe Gen 3 x4 graphics cards or other accessories, an onboard WiFi and Bluetooth module, and a set of ports that includes:

  • 1 x Gigabit Ethernet
  • 4 x USB 3.0
  • 1 x HDMI 2.0
  • 1 x 3.5mm audio input
  • 1 x 3.5mm audio output
  • 1 x 12V DC power jack
  • Other features include a 24-pin ATX power supply interface and connectors for an optional fan, RTC battery, front panel connectors, and status LED lights.

    Milk-V Jupiter NX and Milk-V Megrez NX

    Both of these computer-on-a-module systems are designed to resemble the NVIDIA Jetson Nano, which is to say they look a bit like a stick of RAM, but are basically little computers designed to plug into carrier boards that offer things like ports and power connectors. They both measure 70 x 45mm and feature 260-pin SODIMM connectors.

    The Megrez NX has the same SiFive P550 processor as the Megrez mini ITX board, while the Jupiter NX has the same SpacemiT K1/M1 chip as the Milk-V Jupiter board.

    This cluster board is designed to support up to 8 of the Jupiter NX or Megrez NX boards to create a powerful computer cluster.

    It supports node bandwidth up to 16 Gbps and overall cluster bandwidth up to 32 Gbps, features a RISC-V powered BMC (baseboard management controller), KVM support with remote desktop access, and each board installed can support an NVMe SSD.

    According to Milk-V, a cluster board configured with 8 Megrez NX nodes offers up to 160 TOPS of AI performance.

    And while Milk-V specializes in RISC-V products, the company says the board supports cross-architecture inference if you want to use compatible boards with ARM or x86 processors.
