The DC-ROMA RISC-V Pad II is a tablet with a 10.1 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel touchscreen display, support for up to 16GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB of eMMC 5.1 storage, and support for Ubuntu 24.04 or Android software.

It's also one of the first tablets powered by a SpacemiT K1 processor based on RISC-V architecture. Aimed at developers looking for a device that can be used to code and test applications on a RISC-V device, the DC-ROMA RISC-V Pad II is up for pre-order now for $149 and up.

The starting price is for an entry-level model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, but DeepComputing also offers models with 8GB or 16GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. A top-tier 16GB/128GB model costs $300, and the company says the 16GB models will be able to run Android 15 sometime in the fourth quarter of 2024.

The key thing that makes this tablet different from most is the processor, which features 8 CPU RISC-V RVA22 profile, Imagination BXE-2-32 graphics, and an AI accelerator with up to 2 TOPS of performance.

It's the same chip used in single-board computers like the Sipeed Lichee Pi 3A, Milk-V Jupiter, Banana Pi BPI-F3, and laptops including the DC-ROMA II and Muse Book laptops.

Since RISC-V is still a relatively young architecture, performance isn't at the level you'd expect from the latest Intel or ARM-powered devices, and software support isn't as great. But that's why devices like the ROMA Pad II are aimed at developers rather than the general public (although it's available for anyone to buy).

The tablet features a USB 3.0 Type-C port with support for DisplayPort Alt Mode (for vide output), a 3.5mm audio jack, a 22.8 Wh battery, a 2MP fixed-focus front camera, and a 5MP rear camera with autofocus.
