Verizon and Samsung have officially announced this. The May security patch is currently rolling out to owners of Galaxy S24 series devices.

This update is now available for Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra. Inside you'll only see the May patch, but of course, if you notice something new after launch, don't keep it to yourself. The latest software version number is displayed below.

May 2024 security updates are now available for the Galaxy S24 series in European countries. The update comes just one day after a new update for the Galaxy S24 series was released in the US. Samsung published details of the May 2024 update in a security bulletin earlier this week.

The Galaxy S24 will receive the May 2024 security update with dozens of bug fixes
Samsung has released the May 2024 security update for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra in all European countries. The update comes with firmware version S92xBXXS2AXD6 and is a download size of just under 300 MB for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+, and over 400 MB for the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

According to Samsung's security bulletin, the May 2024 security update addresses 45 security vulnerabilities discovered in Galaxy devices. These vulnerabilities were discovered in previous versions of the software. This is just a security patch, so there are no new features or performance improvements in the new update.

The Galaxy S24 series was launched earlier this year and the devices in the series were the first devices to run his One UI 6.1 based on Android 14. These phones are promised seven major Android OS updates and security patches. It's expected to receive monthly security patches for at least the next three years, but Samsung may reduce the frequency of updates after that.

What's next for the Galaxy S24?
The next major software update for the Galaxy S24 series could be One UI 7.0 based on Android 15. Samsung has already started internal beta development of Android 15 (One UI 7.0) and the One UI 7.0 beta program is likely to start in the third quarter of this year. Based on Samsung's track record, the stable version of Android 15 is expected to be released in late Q3 2024 or early Q4 2024.

Previously, it was reported that the Galaxy S24 series could receive a major software update that would improve camera performance and consistency.
